This Year's Mentors

In addition to our usual crew of local mentors, we're pleased to welcome Helen Wilson to the 2012 Traditional Gathering. 

Helen returns to the Traditional Gathering for the third year running. Based in Arcata, CA, she provides instruction and performs rolling demonstrations worldwide. She has written articles on traditional kayaking for publications such as Sea Kayaker magazine and The Masik. She also writes a regular feature for Ocean Paddler.

Helen competed in the 2008 and 2010 Greenland National Kayaking Championship, and has received first place medals in individual rolling, group rolling, the long-distance race and the distance harpoon throw.
